In case you have not noticed, the theme and special signature of my Ladybags is that of the LadyBug. Why you ask?
Well, its one of the few insects I can like. They're cute and generally harmless. I've benn collecting ladybug "stuff" for a long time. They were hard to find when I first started collecting Ladybugs, but now it seems you can find them anywhere. The fact that Ladybugs and Ladybags are really close to one another is no coincidence.
As it turns out, here are lots of reasons to like ladybug charms.
In parts of Northern Eurpoe, tradition says that one's wish is granted if a ladybird lands on oneself (this tradition lives on in North America, where children capture a ladybird, make a wish, and then "blow it away" back home to make the wish come true). In Italy, it is said by some that if a ladybird flies into one's bedroom, it is considered good luck. In parts of Central Europe, a ladybird crawling across a girl's hand is thought to mean she will get married within the year. In some cultures they are referred to as fortune bugs.
In addition to European traditions, Native American animal spirit lore associated with Ladybugs symbolizes change, letting go of fear, and setting out on new adventures! This definetely is a new adventure for me as I try to turn something I love, crafting and sewing, into something more.
